Lower School Teacher (Grades K-3)

We are seeking a passionate, skilled Lower School Teacher (Grades K-3) who embraces child-led, experiential education and thrives in a natural, multi-age setting. This role requires someone who can design meaningful, hands-on learning experiences across subject areas while guiding students to develop confidence, independence, curiosity, and compassion.

Key Responsibilities:

● Develop and implement a place-based, experiential curriculum aligned with developmental stages and emerging academic skills

● Teach core subjects (literacy, math, science, social studies, and the arts) through project-based and nature-integrated learning

● Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom culture that supports autonomy, collaboration, and emotional literacy

● Incorporate outdoor exploration into daily routines, using our coastal forest and natural surroundings as an extension of the classroom

● Use authentic assessment and observation to guide instruction and document student growth

● Maintain open, ongoing communication with families and collaborate with colleagues to support each child holistically

● Contribute to school events, enrichment nights, and community gatherings

● Fulfill daily school responsibilities including lunch, recess, and shared care-taking duties

Specialized Teachers

We are seeking passionate and skilled specialized teachers to join our school on a part-time basis, teaching one day a week in subjects such as art, theater, outdoor education, Spanish, and more. These educators will bring creativity and expertise to enrich our students' learning experiences beyond the core curriculum. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in their subject area, a love for teaching, and the ability to engage students in hands-on, interactive learning. If you have a talent to share and a desire to inspire young learners, we would love to explore this opportunity with you.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

● Teaching license/certification or equivalent experience in progressive or outdoor education settings

● Ability to differentiate instruction to support varied learning styles and abilities

● Passion for nature-based education and a willingness to teach outdoors in all seasons.

● Strong knowledge of child development and early elementary pedagogy

● Strong classroom management skills that emphasize positive guidance and social-emotional learning.

● Ability to teach and be outdoors in all types of weather

● Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both children and adults.

● Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Substitute Teachers

Our school is looking for dedicated and reliable substitute teachers to join our team. Substitutes play a vital role in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment when regular teachers are unavailable. Ideal candidates should be adaptable, have strong classroom management skills, and be passionate about working with students. We welcome individuals with prior teaching experience or those interested in gaining experience in education. Daily Rate: $250
