Wild Coast Spring Camp

Spring on the Oregon Coast is alive with change: swelling creeks, unfurling leaves, animals scurrying, and soil waking up. At Wild Coast Camps, kids spend their days immersed in these seasonal shifts: developing an ecological understanding of where they are through observation, exploration, and deep relationships.

Our nature-based, mixed-age programs are rooted in play, connection, and place-based learning. Children spend their days outdoors: exploring forests, getting dirty, following curiosity, making connections, and learning about the Oregon Coast by being a part of it.

Programs are mixed-age by design, reflecting NVS’s long-standing commitment to multi-age learning. Older students practice leadership and empathy, and younger students learn by observing and participating. The result is a grounded, cooperative group dynamic that feels more like a community than a classroom.

Designed for campers entering K thru 6th grade, camp runs weekdays from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM with flexible daily or weekly enrollment and early drop-off/late pick-up options.

Program Flow

Each day balances guided experiences with open-ended exploration, allowing learning to emerge naturally from play, conversation, and discovery. Rather than rushing from activity to activity, children are given time to sink in, regulate their nervous systems, and fully engage.

No day is ever the same! Activities shift based on the groups and their individuals interests/needs. Weather-ready clothing is essential (rain gear, layers, outdoor shoes). Expect mud, movement, creativity, and tired, happy kids!

Wild Coast Adventures are all about:

  • Building, climbing, digging, wandering, inventing, and collaborating

  • Creating crafts, stories, and writing inspired by time outdoors

  • Observing, connecting with, and learning more about local animals, plants, and the environment

  • Engaging in songs, storytelling, movement, and imaginative play

  • Practicing independence, problem-solving, and caring for each other

  • Making new friendships and developing a deep connection with nature

  • “My child started pointing out plants, birds, and changes in the landscape on our own walks. They were noticing the world differently. This camp didn’t just entertain them, it helped them build a unique relationship with where we live.”

    —Wild Coast Camp Parent

  • “I didn’t realize how much my kid needed this camp until I saw the difference. They were more confident, more patient, and honestly just happier. This program filled a gap I didn’t know how to name.”

    -Wild Coast Camp Parent

  • “It felt like we were trusted to do real things. We used tools, built stuff, and worked together. I also liked helping the younger kids because they listened to me.”

    -Wild Coast Camper, Age 11

  • “My child struggles socially in traditional settings, but they thrived here. The structure, the time spent outdoors, and the opportunity for new friendships made the experience feel natural instead of forced.”

    —Wild Coast Camp Parent

  • “At first I didn’t want to get my shoes wet, but then I tried it, and it was okay. We followed the creek, and it was really loud because it rained today, and that was fun. I found a stick that was perfect and I kept it all day. I liked that we could be outside even when it was raining.”

    —Wild Coast Camper, Age 7

  • I thought I would miss my iPad, but I didn’t!"
