Raven’s Call- August Newsletter

The Ravens Are Gathering

High above campus, our resident raven family circles in the late-summer air—calling out to each other and watching over all the activity below. Much like them, our NVS community is gathering and preparing for the exciting year ahead.

Wild Coast Camp Wrap-Up
Last Friday marked the last day of our 2025 Wild Coast Camp, and what a summer it has been! Over seven weeks, campers explored the forest, learned bushcraft and survival skills, created art with nature’s treasures, splashed in the creek, and made lifelong friends. We watched confidence grow, curiosity bloom, and joyful memories take flight.

If you joined us this summer, thank you for being part of the adventure. If you didn’t, we hope to see you next year! In the meantime, there’s plenty of learning, exploring, and growing ahead during the school year.

A Strong Start to the School Year
We are thrilled to welcome our new teaching team this year. Their combined experience, passion, and creativity are unmatched, and they bring a shared commitment to the unique, rigorous, and joyful education that NVS is known for. (See our team picture below)

Friday Enrichment Program – Starting September 19
Our new Friday Enrichment Program kicks off September 19! Open to homeschoolers and students from other schools, these Fridays are packed with outdoor education, creative projects, and theater rehearsals. Students who join us regularly will even participate in our winter talent show, Spring Student Market, Art show, and our beloved end-of-year school play. Spots are limited—sign up early! - Email us to inquire and get started on enrollment.

Coming Up This Fall

First School Beach Day – Celebrate the return to school with sand between your toes and learning by the tide.

Harvest Festival – October 4 – Our first big community event of the year! Expect all the fun that Harvest Festival is all about: games, food, music, and autumn fun for all ages.

Teacher In-Service: Building Our Best Year Yet
Before the first student steps into class, our teachers will spend two full weeks in in-service training, uniting our new team and getting ready for a powerful year of learning. Activities will include:

  • Collaborative Curriculum Design – Building engaging, thematic units across all grades.

  • Outdoor Education Immersion – Experiencing first-hand the activities our students will enjoy.

  • Professional Development Workshops – Strengthening instructional strategies, classroom culture, and student support.

  • Community-Building Adventures – Because strong teams create strong schools!

We believe these two weeks will not only prepare our teachers for the school year—it will set the tone for a united, energized, and inspired team ready to give their very best to your children.

This past year has been one of incredible growth and renewal at NVS. We’ve updated and upgraded nearly every part of our school—welcoming new teachers and leadership, strengthening our curriculum and scope and sequence, expanding outdoor education, and adding specialized classes in art, music, gardening, and theater. We’ve refreshed beloved traditions, launched new programs like Friday Enrichment, and invested deeply in creating a strong, united teaching team. These changes reflect our commitment to providing not only a rigorous education, but one that is creative, joyful, and deeply rooted in nature and community.

Enrollment Is Open
If you’ve been considering NVS for your child, now is the time to join our thriving community. With a powerful teaching team, a nature-rich campus, small class sizes, and a curriculum that blends academic rigor with creativity and real-world learning, we are ready to make this a transformative year for every student.

The ravens are calling—come soar with us.
